Crandall Family Vacation 2014

3 years ago, the Crandall family all went on vacation together to South Carolina. Spencer and Kristen graciously planned the whole thing and were great hosts. We decided to continue having family vacations together every 3 years and take turns being in charge. This time around was our turn. There is quite a bit of planning involved for a week long vacation for 22 people, but it was fun and so worth it! We booked a rental house 1 mile away from Disneyland back last September in order to get one for a decent price that would fit us all, so the wait for the actual vacation felt like forever.

The drive there was fairly uneventful. We learned the hard way that we won't be taking Dan's hybrid on a long vacation drive again (lots of hills and long distance = very slow driving, like semi passing you slow, with the hybrid battery is practically dead) but Daphne did much better than we thought she would, so all was well:) We drove to St. George on Friday after Dan got off work and the rest of the way on Saturday.

Daphne loved getting out at gas stations to shop around. We let her get a treat at each stop to help pass time.

We finally made it!

We played for a bit at the Lego Store at Downtown Disney until it was time to check into our rental house.

Saturday night we enjoyed swimming (yes, we had our own private pool and hot tub! the best part about the place!) and eating pizza.

Everyone arrived at slightly different times, but by Sunday evening everyone but Spencer's family was there. Unfortunately, there flight had been delayed, but luckily they arrived the next morning in time to join us at Disneyland. Our first officially activity as a family was roasting hot dogs and smores on the beach! It was so fun! We had each family in charge of a meal for the week. Dan and I were in charge of this one. We roasted brats and hot dogs, had chips, fruit, and smores. A friend of mine had told me about the roasting pits on the beach and I am so glad she did. Who knew roasting hot dogs on the beach would be way more fun than when you were camping??? It was fun to spend quality time together, eat yummy food, and play in the sand.

My cuties at the beach. Daphne wasn't a fan of the cold water (who can blame her) but loved the sand.

Funny girl wanted to sit on my back....sure made for a cute picture though!
