Two Months Old

On April 27th Daphne turned two months old. In the past month Daphne has:
-Learned how to blow bubbles, suck on her fist, and play with her tongue. I often find her licking her hand like a cat would lick her paws.
-Is learning how to hold toys and LOVES listening to music.
-She still moves around constantly! She especially enjoys kicking her feet and flinging her hands when she is undressed on her changing table.
-Solved the Houdini issue slightly by no longer allowing her to wear gowns to bed (now she can only pull her sleepers off her shoulders slightly) and using the swaddle wrap things (they remind me of straight jackets!) instead of receiving blankets.
-Attended her Uncle's Wedding and proceeded to sleep 8 straight hours that night after the long day!
-Survived having her daddy go out of town for the week when she was 6 weeks old and slept through the night for the first time (12 hours between feedings and for the most part she has slept through the night since then!!!!)
-Is now eating between 4 to 5 ounces of formula each feeding.
-She still has acid reflux. The meds and formula switches helped slightly but we are starting her on new meds again, propping her bed, and trying another formula to see if we can help her feel a little better.
-Smiled for the first time for Rueben the Monday before his wedding but refused to smile at anything but the ceiling and the wall after that until almost two weeks later (7 weeks old) when she smiled at mommy and daddy for the first time.
-Met her Grandpa Crandall when he came up from St. George for a visit
-Met her Great Grandparents (Black & Musker) for the first time
-Went to City Creek shopping and slept the whole time. She must love shopping for staying so well behaved:)
-Went on her first vacation to St. George on her 2 month birthday to celebrate her Great Grandma's 90th birthday. She is the 35th great grandchild and currently the youngest person in the Crandall family (and Great Grandma Crandall is the oldest).
-Is still as wiggly as ever, which we love:)

At Daphne's two month appointment (a few days after she turned two months) her stats were as follows:

10 lbs 6 oz (50th percentile)
21.5 inches long (50th percentile)

She still fits into all her newborn clothes and is quite the petite little girl.

Freezin in April

The week of Dan's birthday was full of lots of fun activities! We started off the week by having all of the family over to celebrate Dan's upcoming birthday (Thurs) on Sunday Evening. It was the first time that we hosted anything at our house since Daphne was born. It was a lot of fun! Thursday night for his birthday we stayed at home and had his favorite meal, Chicken Alfredo and Daphne and I gave him his gift. He has been wanting a leather carved scripture case for YEARS. His brother brought some really neat ones home from his mission in Argentina. I have tried to contact the guy that made them to get Dan some but was never able to reach him. I finally decided to start researching other options and found this website (leatherburned.com) that uses a laser to burn images into leather. They were able to make him a custom leather scripture case with Abinadi on one side and Christ on the other. He seemed quite pleased:)

On Friday night we went to Tucanos Brazilian Grille so that Dan and Cami (our sister-in-law) could use their birthday coupons. It is Dan's favorite restaurant so he was quite excited:) Afterwards we walked for a little bit around the new City Creek Shopping Center.

The week finished off with Dan's brother, Jordan's, missionary farewell. His older brother, Spencer, came into town to spend the weekend with everyone and attend the farewell. It was a great weekend and Jordan did such an amazing job on his talk! He has grown up so much and will be a great missionary.

Before Spencer left Utah he was able to visit Dan's work and take a tour. The picture below is of Spencer, in shorts and a t-shirt and not looking cold at all, standing in the negative 14-16 degree freezer Dan works in!

Dan's 29th Birthday week was a lot of fun. We enjoyed getting to celebrate having such a great hubby and daddy in our life!

Easter

Our Nephew, Boston, was blessed in church on Easter Sunday. It was great to be able to attend his blessing and look forward to the opportunity when we will bless Daphne shortly. We enjoyed a BBQ later on with some family and were able to get some cute pictures of everyone on Easter Sunday. Enjoy!

Rueben's Wedding

My FAVORITE (despite the fact that he is my one and only sibling...) brother got married on April 7th, 2012 to his sweet Kamille. Between Daphne being the first grandchild to come into the family and my brother getting married there has been lots of excitement and change lately! It has been quite the whirlwind but so much fun! We are so proud of Rueben and Kamille for the choice they made to be sealed in the Bountiful LDS Temple and love them both very much!
The day of their wedding was great and everything went so smoothly! We loved getting to celebrate such an exciting event with them. We are so grateful for everyone that helped with Daphne that day, especially her Grandpa Grandall and for all the pictures Mary Deaton took.

One Month Old

I should have written this post sooner because now I can't remember what milestones she had before she turned a month old and which have happened after. Oh well. Here is what I remember!

For a comparison...at her two week check-up she weighed 7 lbs 8 oz (20th percentile) and was 20.5 inches (60th percentile) long. At her one month appointment she weighed 8 lbs 9 oz (50th percentile) and was 20.8 inches long (50th percentile). She seems so petite to us, or at least appears that way next to her cute football player cousin, Boston.
I liked how my sister-in-law compared Boston in size from 2 weeks to 1 month with a football...so to keep in style with Daphne's room, I decided to take pictures of her against her owl pillow. It was quite the challenge with how wiggly she likes to be both while awake and asleep! Either way, I thought it was a fun comparison.

In her first month of life Daphne:

-Was diagnosed with Acid Reflux and is now on meds and trying a new formula to help reduce loosing entire feedings
-Met so many family and friends who love her dearly
-Got babysat for the first time by Grandpa Black, Grandma Black, and Grandma Jasmer while mom attended Bridal Showers for her future Aunt Kamille, while mom got her hair colored, and while mom went on a date with dad!
-Got her newborns taken from her Aunt Kristen who came from South Carolina just to meet her and her new cousin Boston.
-Proved to mom and dad that she is a VERY active little girl by wiggling completely out of her outfits while sleeping
-LOVES her binky...and sucks vigorously on it both while awake and asleep.
-Had her first emergency appointment with the doc when she reacted negatively to supplements mom was given.
-Learned to love taking baths once she no longer had an umbilical cord to get in the way
-Learned how to puke (and we are talking flowing like a fountain spit-up...not regular baby spit up!), pee, and have blowouts all over mommy....trying to teach her to do that to daddy instead!
-Finally succeeded at flowing like a fountain all over daddy's face
-Went on her first walk in her stroller.
-Gets the hiccups at least twice a day.
-Entertains her parents with her startle reflux, smiles, and giggles in her sleep.
-Still fits into all her newborn clothes.

Overall Daphne is a very happy and healthy baby. We had a rough beginning with many feeding issues as well as her acid reflux but now that things are quite a bit more under control she has been quite content! We sure love having her as a part of her family and I have LOVED getting to spend each day with her...I trying to enjoy each moment until I have to start work up again.

Birth Announcement

My Sister-in-Law, Kristen, came from South Carolina to visit when Daphne was about 2.5 weeks old. She came to see both Daphne and Boston (her cousin that is 2.5 weeks older than her). While she was here visiting she took Daphne's newborns as well as some fun pictures of the two babies together. This past weekend she finished making Daphne's birth announcements. It was so fun to have her visit and take pictures. She did an amazing job!

First Walk

We took Daphne on her first walk in her stroller when she was almost two weeks old. It was nice to finally get out of the house and enjoy a Sunday afternoon as a family.
