October Happenings

Except from our Christmas letter:

·         In October, Daphne dressed up as the cutest Minnie Mouse for Halloween. She was scared of everyone at the doors (her learning the word “Scary” just in time for Halloween sure didn’t help the situation!) but sure enjoyed all the candy she got. She now asks for candy or butter (her two favorite foods apparently) whenever she is hungry. Daphne also developed a major love for Band-Aids and stickers this month. She calls them “owies” and will only put them on herself or one of us. You will often find all of us sporting stickers all over our bodies, especially on our foreheads.

·         October also brought a very long awaited appointment for Daphne at Primary Children’s Hospital. She was seen at the GI Clinic for some chronic issues she has had since birth. We are still sorting through it all, but feel blessed to know she has wonderful doctors and such a supportive family always there for her. Our tough little girl has been through quite a lot in her short life. She never ceases to amaze us at how strong she is. Not everyone could be as happy and optimistic as she is, despite all the pain she has been through. We sure love this girl and the example she is to us in our home.

Pictures from October:

My mom, Daphne, and I went to pumpkin patch/petting zoo for my birthday. Daphne loved all the animals and having me ride on these little wiggle carts with her.

We went to Hogle Zoo one Saturday as a family. Daphne sure loves giving stuffed animals kisses.

She is now talented enough to push her stroller and the lawn mower at the same time, or so she thinks. Two items = double the meltdowns, haha.

Picking out pumpkins with Grandpa and Grandma Nana for Halloween.

Left: Helping us build her window seat for her room. Right: Helping mommy pick all the veggies from our garden before they were ready.

Daphne also had food allergy testing done in October. She was quite the sad girl after that experience. It wasn't hard for her to convince me she needed two doggie bone shaped cookies when we got home.

We went to the corn maze as a family one night.

Pictures from Daph's visit to Primarys. Left: Going out to lunch after her appointment. This girl loves salsa (or so she did...it's now one of the many foods we avoid in her current restrictive diet) and would make the funniest faces every time she took a bite. Right: Waiting for the doc at Primarys. As you can see, her bandaid obsession made it appear we were there for skin wounds not her tummy.

Having fun at home.

A little too much fun at home....

The three babies Dan's family was expecting finally arrived! We were able to see all three of them in the hospital, but it appears the only ones taken with my phone were the ones of Tori (Mike and Natalie's baby). Andrew and Cami had cute baby Max a week or so later and then Dustin and Shannon had baby Saylor on Halloween! We took pictures of the others on Dan's phone (which crashed and died and we lost all the pictures on it.... sad). Anyways, it was so fun to be able to meet them all! Tori was born on my birthday, which was extra fun, so we went to dinner and then brought cupcakes to the hospital for a birthday celebration.

Daphne also met Tori later on in October. She met the other two in November. She was so excited to meet all the babies.
