Disney!

I am super behind on blog posting. I was in the mood to work on it last month but then I decided to use the limited time I had to work on the computer (since Daphne is way too helpful, that only happens when she is asleep!) to make a slide show video for Daphne's first birthday. Since then, well, I hate to say it but I have to be in the mood for blogging and I just haven't! I am forcing myself now though, because I hate the feeling of being so behind.

Anyways, in December we went to Disneyland for Dan's graduation! Our awesome friends, Mike and Julia, have been asking us for quite some time to join them. At the last minute, we decided to take them up on their offer and we purchased everything for our trip in one night and left like two weeks later. I have never been before and Dan hasn't been since a teenager. We were super sick prior to leaving to Disney and pretty much during the entire trip, but nonetheless, we LOVED it. I can't imagine how much fun we would have had given perfect health! It was the perfect place to go as a family and it didn't bother me a bit that Daphne was so young. Yes, she may not remember it, but she loved it while we were there and that was good enough for me. Half the rides she could go on, so we would just save the other half for when she was napping and take turns riding them. The best thing about it was their child switch passes! It took us until Day 3 to really figure out how to use them (as well as fast passes) to our best advantage, but when we did, we got to do so many things! We would save our fast passes for any ride that Daphne couldn't go on. The child switch pass made it to where one person could stay back with Daphne while the other three road the ride using a fast pass. Then, when the others got back, the person that stayed behind could go on the ride and bring one person with them and go through the fast pass lane. We basically ended up with little waiting on one of the busiest days of the year at Disney. It was awesome. I am itching to go back. Who would have known I would have loved it so much? We kept on teasing Daphne the whole trip that she was such a spoiled girl. Not only did she get to ride on a plane almost 20 years earlier than I did, she also got to go to Disney almost 26 years before me. Spoiled little girl:)

For ease of picture loading/placement, I am going to split this into a few posts. So here is Day 1 for now!

DAY 1

We got lucky enough to find a great deal on flights to Disney. It only cost us $100 more to fly than it did to drive. We figured that a 10 hour drive (non-stop, which we knew would so not be that way when Daphne starts screaming within 10 minutes of being in the car) versus 1.5 hour flight was well worth the extra money. The flight was definitely challenging, especially given the fact that she had an ear infection, but I would still take that over the drive. We learned that giving her a sucker went a long way. The poor girl was miserable, but we all survived.

Plane ride to Disney!
Mike & Julia drove to Disney, which was nice, because then we still had a car without having to rent one. They picked us up from the airport and we pretty much went straight to Disney! We decided to go for a half day since we knew the closer it got to Christmas, the busier Disney would be.

We decided to go to California Adventures and see World of Color the first night. Our very first ride was the Toy Story Ride. The line was pretty long so we actually only got to ride it once the whole trip, I can't wait to ride it again. We got on the ride and within seconds Daphne started screaming hysterically. It took us almost the entire ride to calm her down. When we finally started paying attention to the ride, we realized how cool it was. It is basically a game the whole time and you try to earn points by shooting things, popping balloons, etc. Dan and I quickly tried to catch up on points and thought we had done awesome. Needless to say, our scores were nothing compared to Mike and Julia's. Theirs were like triple ours, and the high score of the ride was like 10 times what we got. Lol. We both are dying to go back and see how good of scores we can get without Daphne's help:) We are just a little competitive if you can't tell....

After the Toy Story experience, we were super nervous Daphne was going to be scared of everything at Disney but she never cried during a ride again! Not even scary ones like Pirates of the Caribbean! The entire trip she pretty much had a dumbfounded look on her face as she took it all in. It was really cute.

Learning about how toy story was made was awesome!

We all loved the bugs life movie! Especially when the bugs crawl underneath your tush as they leave the theater:)

Daphne meeting Santa for the first time. I was worried she would cry, but all she did was stare at him. It was funny. I am sure the fact that she was strapped to daddy helped with the fear of an oversized bearded man.
Christmas 2012

Love Disney at night! It was so pretty with all the Christmas lights. Next time we go, I would like to go when it is a little warmer, but you can't beat the fun decor of Christmastime.
