And to wrap up the year, November and December
have been enjoyable for us too. Our
nightly routine usually includes a dance party hosted by Daphne herself. She is
quite good at convincing anyone around to attend. We have also loved seeing
Daphne enjoy the holiday season. She has loved getting to play in the snow for
the first time (I have to put her in snow boots everywhere we go because I
can’t keep her out of it!), plugging in our Christmas tree lights every night,
and has even tolerated the three times we have made her see the “Scary
Grandpa”, a.k.a. Santa.
Pictures from November:
Left: Dan and I took turns going into meet baby Saylor at the hospital since Daphne couldn't go in. She was being super cute with her "eyes" glasses on upside down. Right: Nicole, Dolores' niece from Guatemala came to visit.
Left: Daphne now thinks she is big enough to push three items at once. Right: Feeling like a big girl. She got to wear "big girl panties" for the morning and loved it. Still a long ways from potty training, but she had fun while it lasted.
Enjoying "ice cream" (sorbet for Daphne) as a family one night.
Shopping with Grandma. She is obsessed with any chair she can find to sit on in the store.
Dinner with Ada and Greysen at Chick Fil A
We went to the park with Boston.
Left: Daphne got to meet Max! Right: Dan got to dress up in his Hmong clothes for a church event he was asked to help with. They did a YM/YW activity with food samples from all different countries. All of them were able to learn a little bit about each culture and sample the food. Our Hmong neighbors were gracious enough to help make over 100 egg rolls and come and participate with him. It's the first time I have seen him in his Hmong clothes in person. Daphne thought it was funny because all the gold coins jingled quite loudly every time he moved.
Left: Wearing Grandpa Nana's glasses. Right: Riding the horsie at the Treehouse Museum
Next two pictures: We went to the Treehouse Museum with Ada and Greysen. It was a lot of fun.
Dan's parents moved in October/November to a different home in Layton. Daphne is in LOVE with the awesome swingset that came with it.
Dan and I attended a Young Service Missionary Fireside that had _______ as the guest performer. The fireside had small enough numbers that it felt like we were at a private concert, which was awesome. I love going to these firesides for Dan's work. It is always such a spiritually uplifting experience and every time we go I fall in love with all the missionaries I meet. It is always a testimony builder to me that the job Dan has is where Heavenly Father wants him to be, which is a great reminder that I often need, as I tend to stress about the financial implications of his job. Yes, he makes less than he would have as a school teacher, but I am reminded each time I am around him, that we are doing what Heavenly Father wants of us and He will provide.
We took Daphne to see her first movie at the dollar theater. It was two dollars per adult and she was free. We figured it was worth the gamble of having to walk out if she didn't behave since we didn't spend much. We took her to see Despicable Me 2. We all had a great time! She was quite wiggly but fairly well behaved.
Dinner at baby Saylor's house. Daphne got to meet her for the first time but refused to be in a picture.
Helping daddy Christmas shop for mommy. She apparently wanted to get me all those books.
Left: Wearing curlers for the first time, which totally failed. She pulled them all out the second I put her in her bed. Right: Still as obsessed with bikes and carts as ever. She loves to ride the ones at the store, even if they are in a box!
Swinging with Grandpa Crandall at the Jasmer's house before Thanksgiving dinner.
Watching a movie with Gabe before the feast.
The Thanksgiving Table setting. Daphne "helped" me make the edible turkeys and the acorn shaped jello.
Our family at my parents afterwards for pie.
Happy Thanksgiving!
My mom did a thankful tree where we each wrote down something we were thankful for. She saved the leaves to put in a scrapbook.
We also ran away for a night in Park City. We were given a free night stay through All Seasons Resort and so we chose the most expensive room they had available of course! It was at the Caledonian on Main Street. Our room, which consisted of a kitchen and family room downstairs, and two bedrooms and two bathrooms upstairs, was bigger than our whole house! It was definitely the nicest place we have ever stayed. The balcony looked out over main street and had a private hot tub. It was so fun to sit out in the hot tub after Daphne went to bed and enjoy all the fun Christmas lights on main street. We thought it would be fun to come back for a special occasion in the future, but after seeing the price tag of the room, well let's just say, it was a once in a lifetime experience!
Daphne and I making funny faces in the lobby of the hotel.
Out for a walk to get dinner.
Playing cars with daddy while waiting for our food.

Just an example of how many things Daphne "needs" in her bed every day. How in the world she fits in there with 5 blankets, 2 pillows, 8 stuffed animals, and 2 books, who knows! But I can tell you this. She is much bigger now and still stuffs as many items in the crib (if not more) with her each night.Dan and I attended a Young Service Missionary Fireside that had _______ as the guest performer.
