10 Months!

Daffodil (or Dill, she does get called Daphne on occasion) turned 10 months old on December 27th. She had quite the adventurous month! She was a busy bee between crawling, going to Disneyland, Christmas, and just being her usual self!

She loves to stand up. She pulls herself up onto everything and is quite proud of herself for doing so:) Just like last month, I really did try to get that "perfect picture" but Daphne was having way too much fun with her Cheerios and well, I figure it wasn't that important. I mostly enjoy just the quality time we spend together trying to get the perfect picture anyway. She couldn't even put her Cheerios down long enough to crawl! She definitely loves to eat. She is my little pig, She gets that from her daddy. Although, she has proven to be quite picky at moments as to what she will eat. I can always guarantee that cheese, peas, and pickles (yes, pickles, we gave them to her at a restaurant thinking she would make a sour face and instead we found that she LOVES them! It works out nicely since we can't stand them. Daphne can eat all our pickles from now on!) always please her. Other foods, well, it just depends on her mood. A lot of it has to do with the texture. She doesn't like mushy things like baby food, bananas, fruit, etc. We have let her eat pretty much anything, within reason, that we eat for dinner. She has had such fun being a "big girl" and especially LOVES pizza.

Daphne showing off her silly personality! She loves to make silly faces and do silly things in attempt to get us to giggle with her. She is famous for looking your way and letting out a slight giggle in hopes that you will respond and have a giggle-fest, joining in on how funny she thinks she can be.

Daphne loves her new found freedom. She either uses it to explore the house or to find her way to mommy. She goes through phases of being really clingy or being a trouble maker by exploring her surroundings. It just depends on her mood. When she does play all by herself she loves to kneel and dig through her toy bucket.

It amazes me at how quick she has grown. We love the crawling stage. It is so fun to crawl around the house with her. She especially loves when Dan and I join her in crawling around. When we were in Disney (more on that later) she loved each night when we would get back to the hotel and crawl and chase her all over the floor. Her favorite is when we crawl away and "hide" and she comes to find us. She gets so excited she can't help but giggle and bob her head up and down like crazy (yup, she bobs her head like crazy when she is really happy!) while coming to find us. We often will pretend we have fallen asleep waiting for her to find us and she thinks it is the funniest thing to crawl on top of us and pat us awake. She just rolls in laughter.

With crawling, sitting, kneeling, and standing there has also come some additional crazy sleeping positions on top of the many she would already would sleep in. Most nights she crawls or keels in her bed until she is super exhausted and will literally just plop her head down while keeping the rest of her body in the crawling position. Looks super comfy, right?
Daphne loves dogs and I am beginning to think she also enjoys acting like one. She often crawls with her tongue hanging out and one night she would only eat in the crawling position as well. She was way too busy to sit up to eat:)

Daphne also wore adult gloves for the first time this month. We went with my family overnight to Park City (we had a free night military stay at the most awesome three bedroom condo. It was really fun! Daphne got horribly sick there but we still made some great memories with my family. It was nice to have a solid day to enjoy all of them. I especially enjoyed getting to spend the time with Rueben and Kamille since we don't see them as often as we would like. Sorry, that was a random tangent but I wanted to say it!) and it was freezing cold so Grandma Black let her borrow her gloves!
Daphne is also very ticklish! She loves to be tickled and often will giggle randomly in hopes we will take a moment to tickle her.

She still prefers her bumbo over a high chair. She was especially excited this night to chow down on some taco soup. She loves and meat, especially when they are spicy!

Daphne and I cuddling one night. She is still super wiggly but has become a little too clingy lately. The benefit to her clingyness? I actually get to cuddle her!

Dill also loves to play in any drawer she can get her hands on. We have turned the bottom kitchen drawer into a baby friendly drawer just for her!

Daphne got to ride on an airplane for the first time (almost 20 years earlier than I did, I might add). At first she thought it was super cool and then the plane took off... she had an ear infection which was not fun with the altitude and didn't want to sit still. So overall, I would say she isn't a huge fan of flying, but she did love the sucker we gave her in order for us all to survive!

Daphne also got to meet Santa! She is normally scared of men, she won't even go to her grandpas or uncles unless she is in a happy mood, but she didn't even cry for Santa! All she could do is give him her awestruck look:) We met Santa while at Disneyland, and let's just say, she pretty much had that same look on her face all week long. She loved looking at everything. We were worried she would be too young, but Disney was perfect for her and she had a blast!
Speaking of Disney, she even got to meet Minnie!

We also learned while in Disney that there is one man in her life (other than her daddy) that she loves to hang out with no matter what mood she is in. She loved hanging out with our friend, Mike!

Daphne loves to play with anything yellow. She has loved the color yellow since birth but it has become especially apparent lately. She giggles whenever Dan wears yellow and always picks out yellow toys to play with out of any other.

Daphne also go to celebrate her first Christmas! I don't think she really understood much, but she loved her new toys and all the attention she got and we loved having her with us to celebrate!

Other fun tidbits:

* Daphne loves to dance. She bobs her head up and down anytime she hears music and thinks no one is watching:)

*Her favorite toy is any sprinkle container she can get her hands on. She loves to shake them up and down. They work much better than the average baby rattle:)

*She still makes her low growly noises. Not sure if she sounds more like she is dying or impersonating a dinosaur. Either way, they make us laugh.

*Her favorite way to show affection is by patting our faces. Whenever she is in my arms she will slap my face over and over again in excitement. She thinks she is super funny to also come crawl up to me when I am laying on the floor and slap my face repeatedly to tell me she loves me as well. Silly girl.

*She has grown a lot lately. She is still pretty skinny, but has started to get really long legs. I have had to move her from 0-3 month pants to 6-9 month pants just due to the length. She pretty much skipped ever wearing the 3-6 month size. We still stick with leggings mostly so they will stay up on her waist. She is wearing mostly 3-6 month shirts and pjs and size 3 diapers.

*Loves to talk and talk and talk. She can be quite social!

*Has started to use a sippy cup, which we are happy about because she doesn't like bottles much anymore so she needed to learn. We bought like 5 different types in hopes she would like one, in the end, she figured it out with the first one we bought months ago. Guess we should have just stuck it out!

We sure love this little girl! Can't believe she is almost a year!
